“Where are we going, Jett?” I complain from the back seat of the SUV. Ariel and I had already taken one nap each on our way to this new safe house. We definitely aren’t in Solaris Cove anymore. The problem now is, I have no idea where the fuck we are. When I woke up about ten minutes ago, we had been traveling along the freeway, and I could see the ocean nearby. The closest ocean that I know of near our home is at least two hours away.

“We will be there in five minutes. Just hold tight. If you can, please wake your cousin. When we get there, I have a couple people I need to introduce you to.” Jett glances in the rear view mirror to make brief eye contact with me then turns his attention back to the road.

“Ari,” I shake her sleeping form next to me. It doesn’t take long before she straightens up and opens her eyes completely.

“Where are we?” She looks around shocked by the hills and trees around us.

“No idea but definitely not home.” I shrug looking out the window once again.

Jett hits a couple buttons on the radio before a ringing sound is heard throughout the car.

“What?” a males voice grumbles as they answer.

“We’re pulling up now,” is all he says before he cuts the call. “When we get out, please let me do the talking.”

Ariel and I turn to give each other a questioning look but keep our mouths shut. Clearly, Jett’s concerned about this interaction which has me slightly on edge. Either we are meeting someone dangerous, or someone important. With our families, this could really go either way. I’ll keep my mouth shut and follow my mate’s lead until I think it could be going downhill.

We all open our doors and climb out of the car. As we start to close the doors, I see the front door of a large mansion open in front of us. Two females, a male, and a little girl head down the stairs, coming to a stop not far from where we parked. The first female is tall and skinny, with long brown hair. She’s wearing blue jean shorts and a red t-shirt with a pair of converse. She seems relaxed while carrying the little girl on her left hip. The little girl looks to be about six years old with shoulder length blonde hair that whips around her face in the wind. She’s wearing a cute little pink dress and is snuggled into the woman's hold. The male standing slightly in front of them is taller. He’s at least the same height as Jett. His blonde hair is cut short, and his eyes are covered with black sunglasses. He’s wearing black jeans with a white t-shirt that's pretty snug on him. The last female in the group stands behind them all. She’s wearing something like a power suit. It's a black pinstripe suit with the jacket hung open revealing a white camisole underneath.
